Known and Unknown
Lots of planning goes out the window quickly (even before the planned start of our trip). “There are known knowns, things we know that we know; and there are known unknowns, things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns, things we do not know we don’t know.” So far, the boat is a lot of unknown unknowns.
Leaving NH
Leaving East Greenwich
Arriving Old Saybrook CT and preparing for winds
Storm blowing in… hook up lots of lines!
One Two, Three, Four Five, Six Seven, Eight Nine
Killing a day or two…
Good bacon burger (for me) at the “little pub” “Salad” for Kristin Mohegan Sun Watching the winds
40-50 MPH winds with 70MPH gusts
Lots of ripped canvas. Canvas on our boat survived, but bent bimini frame and had to remove the canvas. Marina work boat didn’t do well. Swamped.
Finally moving on…
Rikers Island “prison boat” Heading into the city. Getting there now. Closer, still. Fueling up at Liberty Landing. Ouch… that’s our first fill-up. Approaching Lady Liberty Nice view with statue, sailboat, helicopter. Ok, just one more. NYC in the rearview mirror.
Next leg: On to Atlantic City (bailed out on Barnegat Light due to crappy weather, so push on)
Sunrise on the Atlantic… nice and smooth (right now). Passing Barnegate onward to A/C On the dock, safely, in Atlantic City.
In Atlantic City
3 closest boat “neighbors”… one from Goshen, NH, one from Guilford, NH and one from Bedford, NH. Go figure. A couple boats over is the “Boardwalk”… the guy that owns the Golden Nugget, the Houston Rockets, and a bunch of restaurants (Landry’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp…)…
