St. Augustine to Charleston

Flying over Newport looking up toward East Greenwich, the initial departure port that we haven’t seen since October 2019.
Through the Bridge of Lions and on to Georgia.
  • Nice setting on the anchor on the South end of Cumberland Island. The island residents include the only herd of feral horses on the Atlantic coast that is not managed (no food, water, veterinary care, or population control).

Jekyll Island Club Resort is a nice setting for a cocktail overlooking the pool and Intercoastal Waterway. Our boat is and even better setting for watching the sunset.
We are right at the SC/GA border…hoping for no TORNADOS at the Isle of Hope!
We passed this overturned cargo ship on the way south. They are cutting it up in sections and hauling it off. It was a Nissan car-carrier. This is a “hunk” that they cut off and are hauling off. You can see the cars inside.

Life is like a box of chocolates. Something like that. Visiting Savannah, we hopped the trolley tour and saw the “Gump Bench”. Cool city.

In a first, we got stuck on the anchor one stop short of Charleston. It must have wedged under a rock or tree trunk and wouldn’t come up. Fortunately the current was pretty strong and winds picking up finally tugged us loose.
Back in Charleston… as much of a home-away-from-home as we have had.
